2012 National Conference - June 3 - 5 CBA’s National Conference and Libris Awards will be taking place from June 3-5 at the Toronto Congress Centre, North Building. In a bold new move, the CBA annual conference will be tied in with Retail Council of Canada (RCC)’s National STORE Conference. This partnership will allow CBA exhibitors and sponsors access to a wider retail audience while providing our members with a wide range of sessions and topics to choose from including CBA specific sessions which will be announced shortly. In addition, the conference will provide attendees with access to a wide range of networking opportunities. CBA members will get two conferences for the price of one. To quote Nancy Frater, Owner of Booklore in Orangeville, ON, who attended last year’s STORE, “The content was outstanding and the ability to network with peers and colleagues from across the country was invaluable the combination of both conferences will be even more worthwhile. I think it is a good bang for the buck.” The Libris Awards honour everyone who has a role in seeing great Canadian books connect meaningfully with readers. By paying tribute to authors, editors, sales reps, distributors, publishers-and, of course, booksellers-under one banner, these Awards underscore the extremely collaborative nature of the book industry and demonstrate that our most creatively and commercially successful literary enterprises come from one book community's combined talents. CBA will also be presenting the industry’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Canadian author Margaret Atwood. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Ms. Atwood at the industry’s annual gala which this year will take place on Sunday June 3, 2012 at the Toronto Congress Centre. CBA’s Lifetime Achievement Award is given in recognition of Ms. Atwood’s outstanding and longstanding contribution to the book industry. This award, which is bestowed at the discretion of CBA Board of Directors, allows booksellers and other industry stakeholders to explicitly recognize an author’s cultural impact on Canadian literary culture. Past recipients include Timothy Findley, Carol Shields, Pierre Berton, Charles Burchell and Stephen King. Event Sponsorship Opportunities
