5/23/2008 - FIinalists for Trillium Book Award Announced (17 Ontario Authors short-listed for Ontario’s Prestigious Literary Prize)

Six English books and six French have been short-listed for the 21st Annual Trillium Book Award/21e édition du Prix littéraire annuel Trillium, the Ontario government’s prestigious award for literature

Nominees for the influential award have been named in four categories: Fiction, Non-fiction, Poetry and Young People's Literature.


10/11/2007 - Doris Lessing awarded 2007 Nobel Prize for Literature

Doris Lessing, the Persian-born, Rhodesian-raised and London-residing novelist whose deeply autobiographical writing has swept across continents and reflects her deep feminist engagement with the major social and political issues, won the 2007 Nobel Prize for Literature today.

(Edmonton, AB) The Writers Guild of Alberta revealed the winners of the 2007 Alberta Literary Awards at the Alberta Literary Awards Gala in Grande Prairie on September 29, 2007.


9/26/2007 - 2007 Governor General's Literary Awards

All finalists, English- and French-language, will be announced Tuesday, October 16, 10 a.m. at Ben McNally Books, 366 Bay St (at Richmond), Toronto.


9/20/2007 - IBBY Canada announces 2008 Honour List children’s books

Canada’s finest children’s book authors, illustrators and translators will be honoured at international forum in Copenhagen in 2008


9/19/2007 - Finalists Announced for $53,500 Canadian Children's Book Centre Awards (The winners will be announced at a gala event at Toronto’s Design Exchange on October 15, 2007)

The four awards are TD Canadian Children's Literature Award ($20,000), Norma Fleck Award For Canadian Children's Non-Fiction ($10,000), Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award ($10,000) and Geoffrey Bilson Award For Historical Fiction for Young People ($1,000).

The 2007 Scotiabank Giller Prize jury today announced its longlist of books in the running for this year’s prize.

Nicola Barker, Anne Enright, Mohsin Hamid, Lloyd Jones, Ian McEwan and Indra Sinha are the six finalists.
